I often think if I had a little less middle D in my ADD I would be able to enjoy certain kinds of art. The ballet, a symphony orchestra, a long hyper-descriptive book, or many of what I am dubbing hard-bore indie films. Spike Jonze’s latest falls snoringly into the latter category. Don’t get me wrong, the movie had a lot to say but it ironically would have been better served in a YouTube short. Everyone on earth knows what its like to feel lonely. We don’t need scenes that pass as photographs to get cinematic isolation. SPOILER: The inevitable conclusion is that we are too boring for our tech. Our anxious desire to move technology forward creates an anxious desire genetically coded into technology to progress infinitely forward.
